Ten Years Ago Today
It seems unreal that ten years has past since the Oklahoma City bombing. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in my second-hour biology class (I was a sophomore in high school). I walked into the classroom, and noticed that the television was on.
At first I thought it was some kind of fire. The screen showed a bunch of people milling around and stuff. I heard that a bomb exploded from one of my classmates, but from looking at the building, it didn't seem TOO bad.
Then the screen gave an arial shot, and I gasped. The bomb in question took out half the building.
I remember in coming days that I felt anger. How could a couple of guys hate the government so much that he would kill 168 innocent people, including CHILDREN? And why Oklahoma City?
But I also saw many of my classmates giving blood to the Red Cross. I saw people passing around donation buckets to buy food for the dogs that helped find survivors and bodies. I heard Billy Graham say prayers for Oklahoma City. I saw President Clinton vow justice.
And I realized that, with all the bad in the world, there is plenty of good, caring people.

Um, anyway, about the OKC bombing, I am among those who believe that there's much, much more to this than the general public has been told. I can't believe it's been ten years and we still have so few answers. I highly recommend the book THE THIRD TERRORIST by an OKC journalist for more information. You can find it at Barnes & Noble in OKC.
